EGOM will take decision on allowing further sugar exports on Thursday. Earlier, Food Minister, Mr. K V Thomas neglects the possibilities of allowing further exports till Diwali season.

It is a difficult situation for government to take decision on sugar exports as opening up of further sugar exports could raise inflation. Already opposition parties are making hue and cry situation on the inflation issue.

Sharad pawar, who is very close to Maharashtra sugar lobby, also pressurizing government to allow sugar exports. According to Pawar, mills in Maharashtra is bleeding due to falling prices of sugar. Also, paltry earnings of mills unable them to clear outstanding dues of farmers. Several sugar mills in UP have paid farmers only for cane supplied till February and has not able to clear dues for March to May month.

However, Finance and Commerce Ministry supporting Thomas on the issue. Presently, if government opens further sugar exports then it may surely shoot up the domestic sugar prices as well as inflation in the coming days.
