The author is Economic Advisor in the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce 7 Industry (Now with Ministry of Finance) in the Government of India. He was closely associated in the framing of the “Medium Term Export Strategy 2002-07” for India. His work on “Non Tariff Barriers faced by India” for the Ministry in 1999, 2001 and 2004 received much attention and praise.
He was earlier Professor at IIFT, New Delhi. He has also worked as Consultant for UNCTAD and Head of Research and Planning Division of the EXIM Bank. He did his MA from Mysore University, PhD from Bombay University and Post Doctoral Studies at IDS, University of Sussex as a Commonwealth Advisor fellow.
Down to earth strategies & policies based on in depth research and both wide ranging and intensive consultations is the hallmark of Dr Prasad. In this book, he puts the fund of his vast experience on the complex subject of market access for India’s exports and suggests realistic policies for Post-Cancun WTO negotiations in Industrial, Agricultural and Services Sector.
